DESCRIPTION
Description - With a reputation for reliability and performance unmatched by the competition, the Custom" is the binding that led a revolution in comfort and fit. Updated for enhanced support and easy adjustment, the Custom hi-back features an RAF" and a tool-free, integrated locking FLAD". We combine this with a light polycarbonate baseplate for a soft but supportive flex. The full gel straps provide a positive but cush connection. Freeriding and freestyle progression begin here.

Baseplates

CARBON-FIBER REINFORCED NYLON BASEPLATE - Ultra-light and ultra-strong carbon fibers provide maximum support and efficient energy transfer for a super responsive, lively ride.

 

LONG-FIBER REINFORCED NYLON - Long-fiber glass is more responsive than short-fiber glass. So for riders looking for the response of a Formula One racer and the comfort of a Caddy, we pair the P1 Carbon's polycarbonate baseplate with a long-fiber, glass-reinforced spar.

 

SHORT-FIBER REINFORCED NYLON - Short-fiber glass creates a more forgiving flex than long-fiber glass for riders who know that stiffer isn't necessarily better.

 

POLYCARBONATE BASEPLATES - Polycarbonate is a super-tough, resilient and durable material that provides a forgiving yet responsive ride. It's the same material used in bulletproof glass and F-14 fighter canopies, so you know it's tough. You'll find it in our Fusion", P1, Custom", Stiletto and Freestyle" bindings.

 

GAPLESS BASEPLATE PADDING - We've extended the padding over the entire length of the baseplate, including the Gas Pedal", to create a truly gapless fit. In addition to adding an unsurpassed level of comfort, this system offers a new level of convenience. With this system, the discs arrive fully padded with integrated, free-floating washers so you have fewer parts to keep track of.

 

ADJUSTABLE GAS PEDALS - When set up properly, our Gas Pedal" lets you initiate toeside turns more quickly by conforming to the natural toe spring of your boot. Some are adjustable while others simply snap in place, but either way you can't go wrong. Oh yeah, they'll also help prevent toe drag when you're really railing turns.

Hi Backs

PROGRESSIVE FLEXING HI-BACKS - All Burton hi-backs incorporate progressive flex. Simply stated, it means that our hi-backs exhibit different flex characteristics in different areas. In order to provide instant heelside response and a perfect fit from boot to binding, we make our hi-backs stiff and supportive along the spine and heelcup. In order to eliminate calf bite and to facilitate hi-back rotation, our hi-backs are more flexible and forgiving at the top and in the ears.

 

PRE-PREG CARBON FIBER - Pre-preg or pre-impregnated carbon is mechanically impregnated with the resin before the hi-back is laid up. In using this material we can control the exact amount of carbon and resin incorporated in the hi-back itself, which means our carbon hi-backs exhibit a more consistent flex from binding to binding. They are also dramatically lighter than hi-backs constructed out of inferior materials.

 

NYLON HIGHBACKS- Nylon's highly versatile characteristics offer infinite possibilities and allow us to give each of our hi-backs a completely unique ride. Just compare the P1 living hinge, Team Skyback®, Mission" and Lexa and you'll feel the difference.

 

CARTEL HI-BACK - The all-new Cartel comes out strong with a totally redesigned Team Skyback®, a once misty after-market add-on for those in the know. We cored out the unnecessary material to reduce the overall weight by 13% while maintaining the same amazing strength, response and stompability of the tallest hi-back in our line.

 

OTT PADDING - If you're not comfortable, we're not either. OTT" (Over The Top) hi-back padding gives you that extra cushion right where other hi-backs like to bite into your calf muscle. Try one and your calves will thank you and you'll thank us.

 

HI-BACK ROTATION - Hi-back rotation is the key ingredient to making great turns, which is why we incorporate this feature into every single binding we make. Rotating your hi-back parallel to your board edge allows for the most direct transfer of power from your leg to the board, resulting in powerful heelside turns. It also allows for optimal freedom of movement, so you can get your tweak on.

 

FORWARD LEAN - Forward Lean" Adjustment (FLAD") is one of the most important tools for dialing in the perfect amount of response that's right for you and the terrain you ride. The higher the Forward Lean angle, the quicker your heelside response. Crank 'em forward for those icy heelside hits in the pipe or back 'em off for a spring rail session. The P1 Carbon, P1, and PSI even allow you to adjust your Forward Lean independent of your hi-back rotation. Set your hi-back rotation once, never touch it again and still be able to adjust the Forward Lean anytime.

Straps

3D CURVED, TRIPLE-AXIS STRAPS - We have evolved our strap technology and trickled down our hi-end construction throughout the rest of the line. Every strap we make, from the C60 to the Freestyle" is based on the same Pringle-shaped, pre-curved spine that is 3D® molded to perfectly match the shape of your feet and ankles. From that foundation we select different materials to provide just the right combinations of cushioning, support and durability to suit your riding demands.

 

CAPSTRAP - We took a chinstrap from a hockey helmet, tested it, tweaked it, rode it, made it look dope and named it the Capstrap". This strap pulls you down and back while eliminating the pressure on the top of your foot.

 

ULTRASTRAP - The ergonomically designed Ultrastrap combines synthetic leather wrapped EVA padding with a soft, translucent spine for all-season comfort and support without crippling pressure points.
 

 

SUPERSTRAP - The updated Superstrap utilizes turn-and-stitch construction to eliminate seams that can rub against your boot and create pressure points. It may very well be the most comfortable strap on the planet.

 

LUXSTRAP - The Luxstrap uses the same pre-curved, triple-axis spine as the Superstrap, but is constructed in a slightly different manner that allows us to create straps with more style options.

 

CUSHSTRAP - The Cushstrap provides just the right amount of cushioning for riders who want comfortable performance.

 

TELESCOPING STRAPS - Having the correct strap length makes all the difference in your overall comfort. With our patented telescoping straps, we make it clean and simple for you to dial in the perfect fit.

 

MULTIPLE STRAP LOCATION - The height of your ankle strap can make a major difference in the performance and comfort of your setup. We've got multiple positions on all of our bindings so you can adjust at will. Move them up to increase hold and support or move them down for increased freedom and flexibility. On the P1, we even go so far as to make this feature tool-free for on-the-fly adjustments.

 

Buckles

QUICK RELEASE BUCKLES - All of our buckles also feature a quick release gate so you can get out of your binding as quickly and smoothly as possible. We pair these levers with polycarbonate ratchet teeth for smooth ratcheting power that resists wear season after season.

 

STAINLESS STEEL BUCKLES- SMOOTH GLIDE BUCKLE TECHNOLOGY - We don't believe in buying cheap, off-the-shelf buckles from other suppliers. Our designers and engineers spend as much time refining buckle construction and determining the best material combinations as they do on any other part of the binding. After all, if your buckles fail, your bindings won't do you much good. From the introduction of the original Slap Ratchet®, we are continually evolving the face of buckle design. Our new Smooth Glide buckle technology utilizes different combinations of materials to increase durability and ensure buttery smooth release. We construct our levers out of polished stainless steel

 

CHROME PLATED ALUMINUM BUCKLES - SMOOTH GLIDE BUCKLE TECHNOLOGY - We don't believe in buying cheap, off-the-shelf buckles from other suppliers. .Womens Features

WOMEN-SPECIFIC BASEPLATES - Our engineer, Julie Murray, led the charge in developing true, women-specific baseplates designed to fit women's size ranges: 4-6 small, 6-8 medium and 8-11 large. This new scaling makes snug, gapless fit a reality, which translates to more responsive riding. The Lexa's short-fiber reinforced nylon baseplate offers a more responsive ride for advanced female riders looking to step it up and tear shit up. For those women looking for the mellower ride, the Stiletto's polycarbonate baseplate (pictured) is the ultimate answer.

 

RAF - Our patented Rider Adjustable Flex (RAF") components allow you to adjust the flex at the top of the hi-back to your exact preference. For a more responsive ride, turn the dial so it stands vertically (FIG.1) . For a softer, more mellow flex turn the dial so it stands horizontally (FIG.2).

 

WOMEN-SPECIFIC HI-BACK - Our hi-backs are engineered to fit the shape of a woman's calf to eliminate painful pinching and uncomfortable pressure points. The Lexa's 2-component hi-back combines different grades of nylon in the spine and perimeter to provide responsive support that won't dig into your calves. The Stiletto hi-back (pictured) is softer and shorter than the Lexa hi-back. This flex and shape provides a more relaxed, forgiving ride.

 

WOMEN-SPECIFIC STRAPS - Just as women's boots do not fit perfectly into men's bindings, men's straps do not fit perfectly over women's boots. We use the same pre-curved, triple-axis straps as the rest of our line, but build them to be perfectly compatible with the size and shape of women's boots. It's as simple as that.
